In this icon, Christ and the apostles are painted brown-skinned.
Our piece shows Christ seated in gold inside a ring of cloud, carried up by angels with red and white wings. Below, Mary and the apostles crowd the hillside looking up, with two angels in white among them. Forty days after the Resurrection he left with a promise to return. The icon painted him, his mother and his followers dark.
