The mother and child on our Comoros stamp are melanated, as the islands are.
On our piece a mother wrapped in red patterned cloth holds her baby close, both faces deep brown, under the words ARCHIPEL DES COMORES. It is a Red Cross charity stamp, Croix-Rouge Comorienne, 35 + 10 francs. The islands sit in the Indian Ocean between Mozambique and Madagascar, under France until 1975, when they declared themselves free.
