In the icon we carry, Florus and Laurus are painted swarthy and brown, receiving the reins from the Archangel Michael.
Our piece is gold from edge to edge. The Archangel Michael spreads dark wings at the top, with Florus and Laurus in red robes on either side. Below, riders drive black and white horses across the field. By church tradition the two were twin stonemasons and martyrs, and in Russia they became the keepers of horses. Labor, faith and the herd, painted together.
