In the icon we carry, the holy figures are painted melanated.
Our piece is red and gold: an eight-pointed star of blue and red at the center with Mary and the Child inside, framed by small panels of saints and scenes all around. In Exodus, Moses saw a bush burn without burning up. The icon says Mary is that bush: she carried the fire and was not consumed.
